stack and rack with Maine Cottage Bunks

28 Oct

Let the wild rumpus start! Children, grandchildren, sleepovers, family and friends. Having enough beds can be a challenge. Having solid, safely built beds that can withstand juvenile antics can be an even greater challenge. Maine Cottage Shutter Bunk Beds solve all of the above…and below.

Made with weighty maple and indestructible construction methods, these beds nest together with strength and presence – in your choice of 40 Maine Cottage colors.

Versatility is yet another virtue: the bunk beds may be stacked together with top side rails and a ladder or peeled apart into two twin beds – sans the side rails or ladder. That is, two Shutter UTE Beds. UTE is our acronym for “Under The Eaves”. The UTE headboard is shorter (8″) than our standard Shutter Bed.

Shutter UTE beds are perfect for older homes with tricky angles, dormers and alcoves. And less space-consuming for bunk and guest rooms. They come in full and queen sizes too – to fit more monkeys in a bed. Yes, let the wild rumpus start!

a design walk with Hat-itude

23 Oct

The 2010 Design Walk in the Upper King Design District held on October 21st in Charleston, South Carolina was a grandly festive occasion. We had many visitors in our Maine Cottage showroom and courtyard. The highlight of the evening was an appearance by the illustriously colorful group “The Hat Ladies” of Charleston. A group of gracious women with a love of beautiful hats and good cheer. We thought we’d share a few images of their visit and thank them for stopping by!

Maine Cottage

synonymous with Simplicity

22 Oct

Is the word “hammock” enough to bring a smile to your face? A sense of peace and relaxation? It’s an iconic image of SUMMER. Free floating, suspended midair without a worry in the world. Bare feet. Soaking up the sun or keeping cool in the shade of trees. Hammock is synonymous with simplicity. Siesta. Easy living. Fun.

Hence the name Hammock for these Maine Cottage fabrics. Textural, cool and relaxed, Hammock fabrics are constructed for carefree indoor and outdoor use. Hammock’s a hardy synthetic fabric with a relaxed feeling (or “hand”) and protected by spill and stain-resistant Nano-tex. Easy to care for and easy to live with – in beautiful Maine Cottage colors. How’s that for simplicity?

all things Bright and Beautiful

21 Oct

Paula lives here along the coast of Maine where she has worked with us for two years to assemble this bright, beautiful living area – piece by piece and fabric by fabric. She’s very proud and excited about the outcome. And so are we! Here’s a great picture from her.

Maine Cottage look

What an invitingly warm and colorful living space! We love her choice of a Maine Cottage Adeline Sofa, Simon Chair and Ruben Hassock in Rambler and Just Dandy print fabrics with painted Fiddlehead End and wicker Cooper tables. A Tulip Lamp by Jill Rosenwald in a simple, proportionate form with coordinating colors adds interest. The repetition of soft greens, yellows with some red pull the whole area together with ease. Congratulations, Paula! Thanks for sharing.
